updates.

Good Things on the Market has a new awning - a result of the renovations the building is undergoing to restore it as close to original as possible. Apparently you can’t renovate a historical building unless it you make it look like it used to first. The lower awning will allow for showing off the windows above it which will soon be clean and shiny.

The original ten foot, corner door has also been restored to the same building along with some fresh paint.

We’ve also had some construction on Market St. and Market Sq. this week. The concrete sidewalks in the area are being ripped out and replaced with asphalt. They will then eventually be stamped and colored. The remainder of the work, which includes paving several downtown roads, is supposed to continue on Sunday then at night for the remainder of the week beginning September 30th.

Fat pumpkins have found their way to the City Market this week along with a variety of decorative gourds, butternut and acorn squashes. Stop by and grab something for show or for dinner. These large pumpkins (pictured) from Martin’s Farm are $6 each. And speaking of pumpkins, the annual Harvest Festival will be held downtown on the City Market and the corner of First St. and Church on October 13th from 10am to 4pm.
