photos from the local colors festival.
Saturday, May 19th marked the 17th Annual Local Colors Festival in Roanoke. The Festival highlighted the ethnic and cultural diversity of the Roanoke Valley and included a Parade of Nations, an International Fashion Show, International Classic Music, a Native American Village, Lithuanian Dancers, the “Sons of Norway” with duals, Viking ships, and long houses, as well as many other activities.
Following are a few photos from the Parade of Nations that was held at 11am. The parade was attended by dignitaries from embassies, area Senators, Congressman and the Roanoke’s Mayor, Nelson Harris.
(Right.) I thought this was adorable. A little girl representing Mexico slid out of her place in the parade to ask for a balloon of her own.
