The Roanoke Farmer’s Market was packed on Saturday with locals searching for plants to decorate their lawns and hanging baskets to give as gifts for Mother’s Day. Riverside Nursery was on hand with gorgeous roses, azaleas, and even Japanese Maple trees.

Rolling Meadows Farms offered herb pots for sale at $40 each. Even better, save the pot and bring it back next spring, and Tim will replenish it with fresh herbs for $20.


Here, Kyle, a caricature artist, draws a portrait for a girl in front of Trio. Earlier in the day, Center in the Square offered free face painting and caricatures for the children who visited.


A family listens to the band that played from 11am to 2pm. Saturday, visitors were able to enjoy old time classics from Black Twigs. Bands play every Saturday and Sunday on the market, weather permitting, as part of the Music on the Market series.


Artist, Eric Fitzpatrick, works on a watercolor painting as a passerby stops for a photo opportunity and pedestrians take in the sites.
